On this week LIVING IT LOUD: Alan Reinhart, VP Of racing Operations for the International Hot Rod Association 30+ years as a National Event announcer for NHRA the last 13 as the lead or "Voice of the NHRA" Saw my first drag race when I jumped a fence from the motocross track where I was racing after hearing Funny Cars running. 12 years old Made my first run as soon as I got a drivers license (no jr. league back then) Won my first trophy and had to hide it so mom wouldn't know I was racing her car. Started announcing as a lark, when the track owner who was announcing test and tune night asked me to cover while he hit the can. He never returned. Heavy equipment mechanic by trade, Fabrication and Machine Shop owner. Worked 5 years in a Pro Stock engine shop. Have crewed on Bracket cars, Pro Stock cars, Pro Mods, Funny Cars, Top Fuel cars, and even a record setting Top Alcohol Hydro drag boat.
